Obituary of Patrick J. McCarthy II

Patrick James ("P.J.") Mc Carthy, II, 70, of Morristown, NJ, was called home by the Lord on July 6, 2026 after a difficult and sudden illness. Preceded in death by his parents, Patrick J. and Marie (Bruno) Mc Carthy, Patrick is survived by his sisters Patricia Brady (Mark), Kathe Levesque (Daniel), Maria Doerr (Kevin) and Jacqueline Micera (Robert). He was "Uncle Silly" to Nephew and Godson Michael Brady, nephew Michael Doerr (Rebecca), nieces Sasha Levesque, Kristen Doerr-Williams (Zack). Patrick took great joy in knowing he got to be a Great Uncle to Colton and Casey Doerr and was honored to be a Godfather to Joseph Bruno. He is also survived by the Bruno and McCarthy cousins and the kind people who called him friend. Patrick was born in Ridgewood, NJ on April 4, 1956. He attended high school in Paramus graduating in 1975. He went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Keane University. He was a lifelong small business man beginning with his paper route as soon as he was old enough, then starting his own landscaping business in the subdivision surrounding the family home. Patrick ended up working for over 40 years in the same industry servicing and managing retail stores for landscape power equipment- first for Maywood Power Equipment then he joined a coworker who started Booton Power Equipment and eventually Kenvil Power. In his retirement Patrick was a partner in the Wine and Liquor Depot in South Hackensack. Patrick was a man of strong character, a thoughtful listener and measured in speech. He considered the needs of others before his own. He savored good food, good music and making his family laugh until it hurt. Even in his final days he managed to have a sense of humor. Patrick poured himself out in service to others until there was nothing left of himself to give. Now we take comfort that Patrick is with his Savior, full of eternal life. The Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 18, 2026 at St. Peter the Apostle Church in River Edge, NJ. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hackensack, NJ. G.
