Obituary of Edward G. McGowan

EDWARD GEORGE McGOWAN, of The Villages, FL, formerly of River Edge and Maryland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the age of 95 years. Prior to retiring, he was the central office chief switchman for New Jersey Bell Telephone of Hackensack. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and was a member of the American Legion of River Edge. He was a former parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle, R. C. Church of River Edge. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and he also was an avid golfer. Beloved husband of the late Regina (nee Hotz). Devoted father of Kathleen Villani and her husband Anthony of The Villages, FL and Edward G. McGowan and his wife Claire of Gilbert, AZ. He was also predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. The Funeral on Friday, on November 2, 2012 at 8:30 AM from the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM at St. Peter, the Apostle R.C. Church, 445 5th Ave, River Edge with entombment following at Garden of Memories, Washington Township. Visiting will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 7 - 9 PM.
