Obituary of Filippa Bonica
FILIPPA "PHYLLIS" BONICA (nee VIZZINI), of Hackensack, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, in the comfort of her own home, at the age of 88 years. She was born in the Bronx on October 31, 1924 to the late Velleda and Igino Vizzini. During her career as an executive secretary for International Flavors and Fragrances of New York, she met and married Thomas J. Bonica, who predeceased her in 1994. Together they raised five children. She was a longtime parishioner of Holy Trinity R. C. Church in Hackensack, where she was a member of the Rosary Society, a member of the Surf City Yacht Club, the Socialites at St. Francis of Assisi, and past member of White Beeches Country Club in Haworth. She spent her summers as a Harvey Cedars resident for the past 45 years. Beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Bonica. Devoted mother of Thomas J. Bonica and his wife Catherine, Robert Bonica and his wife Denise, Donald Bonica and his wife Karen, John Bonica, and Carol Garino and her husband Alfred III. Cherished grandmother of Lauren Bonica-Sylvester and her husband Andrew, Michael Bonica, Hayley D'Amico and her husband Marcelo, Jarred Bonica, Kyle, Alec and Kirsten Garino. Adored great grandmother of Lila and Luca D'Amico. Phyllis was a loving wife, dedicated mother, cherished grandmother and forever friend who will be missed by all. The funeral on Friday, June 14th, at 9:45 AM, from the Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity R. C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack with burial following at St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
