Obituary of Araxie Boyadjian
Araxie Boyadjian (nee Mavelian) 83, of Saddle River, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 3, 2016 in her home.
Beloved wife to the late Krikor Boyadjian who passed away in 1997. Devoted mother to her children, the late Bedros Boyadjian who passed away in 2009 and his wife Meline', Sossi Avrigian and her husband Melcom, Jack Boyajian and his wife Linda and Araxie's youngest of four children, Helen Boyadjian. Cherished Grandmother to Christina, Gregory, Diana and James Boyadjian, David, Armand, Jacqueline and Juliette Boyajian, Meline' and Georgette Avrigian.
Funeral service will be held at Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church on Saturday, January 9th at 10:30 AM with Rev. Hovnan Bozoian of Sts. Vartanantz officiating. Burial will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, 234 Paramus Rd, Paramus, NJ. Visitation will be held at G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home on Friday, January 8th from 5pm to 9pm.
Araxie was born in Aleppo, Syria to Nerces and Aznive Mavelian on January 24, 1932. She attended Armenian Evangelical Bethel School. She acquired her master-seamstress training under Madame Cesari. Along with her husband and four children, she emigrated from Beirut, Lebanon and settled initially in Paterson, NJ and then in Paramus, and eventually in Saddle River, NJ. After supporting her family in various businesses, Araxie returned to her profession as a master seamstress at B'Altman's and then at Lord & Taylor for over 30 years. Araxie was an elegant and graceful woman who spent her last years reading her Bible, praying, cooking for her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She received Mother of The Year award by the Armenian Ourfa Organization and served at The Armenian Relief Society, in various capacities including a term as President.
Araxie's soul radiated like a beam of light, extending to all those she touched, the love and joy of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
