Obituary of Salvatore Cicardo

SALVATORE CICARDO, 94, of Saddle Brook, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 28th 2016. His final days were spent surrounded by the love and warmth of his family and friends. He was born in Africa on November 12th 1921, and was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine Cicardo. He is survived by his loving wife Gaetana, their two children Debra and Steven, his granddaughter Amber and his several nieces, nephews and cousins. Salvatore served in the Air Force for three years in World War II as a mechanic, fixing prestigious fighter airplanes. After heroically serving his country, he received an Honorable Discharge from the Air Force. He married his soulmate and love of his life, Gaetana Inglese, in 1947. Spending 68 wonderful years together, there was an endless amount of laughter, adventure and small daily reminders of how thankful they were for each other. He was a very modest and hardworking family man, who's kindness and generosity never went unnoticed. Retiring at the age of 90, he was always inventing and tinkering, putting his creative and opportunistic touch on everything. Salvatore enjoyed going to Atlantic City, crabbing and clamming in the bay, painting model airplanes, playing baseball with the Hackensack Troast and spending time with his beloved family. He truly made a great impression on many and will be dearly missed. Visiting will be on Thursday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. The funeral will begin from the funeral home at 9:15 AM with the funeral mass at St. Philips the Apostle Church, 488 Saddle River Road, Saddle Brook, NJ 07663 on Friday at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, 234 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ 07652. In lieu of flowers, donations in Salvatore memory may be made to St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church, 488 Saddle River Road Saddle Brook, NJ 07663.
