Obituary of Barbara M. Smith

BARBARA M. SMITH, (nee Messenger) of Paramus, formerly of Hackensack, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2014, at the age of 82 years. Prior to retiring she was a social studies teacher at Leonia High School for more than 25 years. Teaching was her passion. She was past president of the Leonia Education Association and a former member of the Hackensack Juvenile Conference Committee. Beloved wife of the late Walter R. Smith who died in 2008. Devoted mother of Vicky Farhi and her husband Michael of Hackensack. David Smith of Virginia Beach and Robert Smith and his wife Maura Daly of Montclair. Cherished grandmother of Ben, Joel, Owen, and Liam. Dearest sister of Charles Messenger and his wife Linda of Rotonda, Florida. The funeral service on Wednesday, September 17th, at 10:00 AM from the funeral home. Reverend John Mennell officiating with entombment following at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 7 - 9 PM.
