I regret that I have heard of this belatedly. Mr. Schroth, as his students respectfully called him, was my teacher from ages 12-17. I finished with him with Mozart's Sonata in C major. I left for college and left piano behind me but never forgot the music, having helped my children with what I learned from him. I am playing again now.
What I remember most of Mr. Schroth was his kindness, his lightness of being, and his extraordinary talent as a performer and teacher. He also cherished that I was a redhead, telling me that his own mother was a redhead too. I always felt cared for, and I will never forget his high standards as a person and musician. It truly hurt my heart to hear of his passing.
