Obituary of Joseph Michael Sortino

Joseph Michael Sortino, of Lodi, died on Saturday, November 18, 2006, at Hackensack University Medical Center at the age of 58 years. A graduate of the Hackensack High School system in 1966 and William Paterson College in 1970, he worked in the tax office for the Borough of Lodi. Previously he was a ninth grade science teacher for the New Milford School System and the Corpus Christ School System in Hasbrouck Heights. A parishioner of St. Francis R. C. Church of Hackensack, he was the Chairman of the Church Environment Committee and served as a lector, Eucharistic minister and was a member of the choir.. He was a 50 year member of the Third Order of St. Francis. He also served as a Boy Scout Leader for Troop # 319 and was a volunteer at Hackensack University Medical Center. Predeceased by his father James Sortino, he is survived by his mother Marie Tomaselli Sortino of Lodi. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Francis R. C. Church, 50 Lodi Street, Hackensack, on Wednesday at 9:30 AM with entombment following at Hackensack Cemetery. Visiting will be on Tuesday from 3 - 5 and 7 - 9 PM.
