Cecilia Foley

Obituary of Cecilia H. Foley

Cecilia Helena Foley, 82 of Lodi passed away peacefully on Thursday July 19th, after a long illness surrounded by those who loved her most.  Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and GG  Cecilia was born on Jan 29, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY.  Daughter of the late John and Mary (Myers) Gundersen. Ceil was extremely proud of her Brooklyn roots. Ceil worked for Ginn & Co in NY before getting married to Joseph Foley, moving to NJ and raising 6 kids.  She spent the later part of her life as a caregiver for those who needed the abundance of love and support that only she could give. Ceil was well read and enjoyed conversation on a wide range of topics.  Ceil was the first Vice-President of the Bergen Irish Association - Ladies Auxiliary and editor of the newsletter.  Many long-time members have fond memories of Ceil singing to a crowded room at one of the many Irish celebrations.  Her dedication and talents went a long way to ensuring the success of the Bergen Irish.  There was never a full moon or flower that she did not notice and fully appreciate its beauty. Ceil was a loving wife, mother, grandmother & GG and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Ceil is survived by Joseph Foley, her children Mary, Glenn (Eileen Gallagher), Joseph, Sean, Kieran (Mariella Damiani), Christopher; her grandchildren Sam Rosa (Merisa Wallace), Kim Rosa (Christopher Jimenez), Matthew Foley, Erin Foley, Colin & Dillon Foley and her one and only great grandson, Jameson Rosa.
