Obituary of Carl G Carroll

The Journey A Time to Be Born: Life's Journey for Carl Gregory Carroll began Wednesday, April 1, 1931 in Tangle River, St. James, Jamaica, West Indies. The first child to be born to the late Herbert Carroll and Gladys Reid. He grew up and received his early education among the beautiful mountains and landscape of the Country he loved, Jamaica West Indies. Understanding the importance of having a personal relationship with God, Carl affiliated himself with the Maldon Baptist Church. A Time for Every Purpose under the Heavens: Carl spend most of his adult years in Summer Hill, St. James. Given the opportunity to migrate to the United States in order to experience life in America, in 1984 he and his wife- Edrel (Mary) Carroll traveled to Brooklyn, New York and later relocated to Maywood, New Jersey. While living in New Jersey, Carl held various positions in order to support his family. He retired in the year 2000 and journeyed back to his home land. After 16 years enjoying the blissful life in Jamaica, and due to failing health, Carl and his wife relocated back to Maywood, NJ to be with his daughters. Carl was employed as a Revenue Field Officer, with the Montego Bay Tax Office for a number of years and also a farmer, which was his first love. A Time to Love: Carl met and fell in love with his beautiful wife, Edrel, also known as Mary and they were married for 64 years. Their union produced three children: Glenda, Rohan and Judith. He later played and important role in raising five of his ten grandchildren: Marsha, Kevin, Ricardo, Carlton and Kimberly. Carl was a strong, caring and funny person. He loved tending to the land and would spend countless hours in the field planting, grooming and reaping his harvest. He also loved nice things. One of his passions was to maintain a spotless car. He would rarely ever be seen in a dirty vehicle. Most of the time he would not drive his car without washing it – regardless of the weather. A Time to be Blessed: As Carl's health failed, his daughters and son cared for him to the end. Together they provided the atmosphere of love, respect and dignity. Blessed with life for more than fourscore years, the days of our years are threescore and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. A Time to Die: Surrounded by family; having fought a good fight, having finish his course, having kept the Faith, Carl transitioned to his heavenly home on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 5:34PM. A Time to Mourn: He leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted and loving wife, Edrel (Mary), Daughters: Glenda and Judith; Son, Rohan; Ten Grandchildren: Marsha, Kevin, Ricardo, Carlton, Kimberly, Darrell, Dana, Shanique, Glenroy and Devonte. Three great grandchildren: Darrell, Jr., Roshaun (RJ) and Malia. Two Sisters: Rachel and Sheryl; Two brothers; Basil and Jimmy; Sister-in-laws: Lyn and Gloria, host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends and a loving caregiver and friend Marvette.
