To Cathy and family and friends of August J. Nagy,
On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans - USSVI, please accept our sincere condolences at August’s passing. You and your loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers. May you find kindness to warm you, sympathy to comfort you, and cherished memories to bring peace to your heart.
We are forever grateful for Gus's service to our country in the United States Submarine service. August served on the USS Sterlet (SS-392). To our Brother of the Phin we say, “Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch.”
“Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way.” 2 Thessalonians 3:16.
Nagy, August J., US Navy, now on Eternal Patrol -- Fair Winds and Following Seas to our departed shipmate. August’s record is posted online in the Eternal Patrol file on the USSVI website.

It's always so hard to say goodbye to someone you have known your whole life. You always think you have a lifetime to share with them. But life is short but filled with laughter and memories. And I treasure every moment I got to spend with him. My heart breaks. Knowing I can t see his smiling face. Taste his delicious food or hear him yell when I didn t. Answer him correctly lol. I will miss you gus❤RIP my dearest brother in law

Just a few words to say how sorry we are to hear of Gus passing. I am from the group of guys that grew up in the Bronx and spent a lot of time playing basketball together. Thanks to our buddy Mike we continued to meet twice a year to go over the memories of the old days. Gus and I lived across the street from each other and loved to talk sports. Gus was in my wedding party and we shared the same birthday. This is very sad news.

So sorry to hear about your loss! I understand a bit about what you and your family might be going through since my Dad also passed just 6 months ago. He sounds like a great man and thanks to some of his service in the Navy we are a better country. To hear of any loss to families in the Northern Jersey area has a special pace in my heart since I grew up there as well. My sister taught in Hackensack schools and I was born in Hackensack hospital. He and my family might have even crossed paths over the years as life is a tapestry in how people connect.
Again feel somewhat comforted with some prayers my family and I will say for you this weekend. Christina - sending hugs your way....
