I met Joan by chance in 1975 in Italy. She was fresh out of RISD and on a great adventure backpacking through Europe. A small group of independent travelers "clicked" and we rendezvoused in different countries in Europe, and traveled Egypt to Luxor and the Answan Dam. We continued to meet over the years in New York City, San Francisco and Monterey. Her artistic flair and spirit of adventure invited treasured friendships.
