Mary G was like a second mom to me. Although we did not see each other after I moved down the shore she was always on my heart. Im so thankful I was able to see her this past Thanksgiving. I have so many happy memories of the time we spent together, we had many conversations sitting on her front stairs on West St. I practically lived at her house. We watched TV , we played cards, we hung out next door at her niece Pats house, we drank a lot of coffee. I can see her now laying on her stomach on the floor watching TV, she had a pad and a pen to write down the lottery numbers and would check them every night. If she lost she would say “Fuck You Hela” LMAO!!! I’m sure she prayed for me up until the day she died. No matter what I did wrong in her eyes I was the best. I remember when she was diagnosed with stomach cancer, she told me as a child they were very poor so they would take the tar from the street when it was hot and chew it as gum, she believed she got the cancer from chewing the tar as a child. I brought her a statue of St Pedigrini (patron saint for cancer) in the hospital the day before her surgery, she was so happy, she took the small statue and with her faith rubbed it on her stomach. She was fine after that. When my 2 year old son accidentally locked me in the closet, Mary G came to my rescue. These are just some memories, there were so many more. Mary, thank you for always praying for me, I know in my heart you will still keep praying in Heaven. Love you!!!
