Obituary of Oscar A. Acuna

Oscar Alberto Acuña, age 57, passed away on March 2nd, 2022 at 3:03 pm in Hackensack, New Jersey after his heroic fight with COVID-19. Oscar was born in Lima, Peru to Luz Erlinda Vera Altamirano and Manuel Acuña Paredes on July 7th, 1964 being the brother to his beloved siblings Carlos, Walter, Carmen, Gladys, Dora, Luis and Roberto. While living in Peru, Oscar discovered his passion for fashion and cosmetology, he knew early on that it was his life's mission to aid others in feeling confident and beautiful. When Oscar arrived in the United States, he received his cosmetology license and immediately started looking for work. Although Oscar moved around a lot, his clients remained loyal and followed him wherever he went, most of whom stuck with him for over 30 years. Not only for his amazing work but for his kind and joyous spirit, he loved to make his clients laugh with his crazy jokes and energetic dancing intermissions. You don't find that with just any hairdresser, this is what made him special. Oscar loved nothing more than his two children Alonzo and Kai Acuna. Everything he did was for them. He would go out of his way to make his kids happy even if he didn't have the resources to do so. No matter what it was that they needed he found a way of making it happen. He was their biggest supporter and always put them even before himself, he was their hero. Oscar's selfless spirit didn't end there, if anyone ever needed help he would do everything in his power to take care of those around him. Whether it was for work, food, shelter or just someone to talk to, he was always there. Oscar was a remarkable father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend... the list goes on. Overall, Oscar was an amazing person and will always be remembered for his bright and radiant personality. He shines his light upon us as he dances blissfully from the clouds above. Oscar, you will truly be missed as there's no replacing you. We love you deeply and will continue to celebrate your life for many years to come.The Funeral will begin on Saturday March 12, 2022, at 10:15 AM from the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, NJ.The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 AM on Saturday March 12, 2022, at St. Francis R.C. Church, 50 Lodi Street, Hackensack. Burial will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 – 8:00 PM for visitation at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home. Oscar Alberto Acuña, con 57 años de edad, falleció el día 2 de Marzo del 2022 a las 3:03 pm en la Ciudad de Hackensack, Nueva Jersey después de su heroica batalla contra el COVID-19. Oscar nació en Lima, Perú, hijo de Luz Erlinda Vera Altamirano y Manuel Acuña Paredes el día 7 de Julio de 1964 siendo hermano de sus amados Carlos, Walter, Carmen, Gladys, Dora, Luis y Roberto. Mientras vivía en Perú, Oscar descubrió su pasión por la moda y cosmetología, él supo a temprana edad cuál sería su propósito de vida, ayudar a otros a sentirse seguros de sí mismos y bellos. Cuando Oscar llegó a los Estados Unidos, recibió su licencia de cosmetología e inmediatamente empezó a buscar empleo. Aunque se encontró bajo constantes cambios, sus clientes se mantuvieron siempre leales y lo siguieron a donde él se encontrara, muchos de ellos permanecieron a su lado por más de 30 años no simplemente por su sorprendente trabajo sino por su espíritu generoso y jovial. El disfrutaba de hacer a sus clientes sonreír con sus elocuentes chistes y sus descansos con energéticas sesiones de bailes. Es muy difícil de encontrar eso en cualquier estilista, esto fue lo que lo hizo especial. Oscar amó a sus dos hijos Alonzo y Kai más que a nadie y nada en este mundo. Todo lo que hizo fue por ellos. El salía fuera de todos sus planes para hacer a sus hijos felices incluso en ocasiones cuando no tenía los recursos para hacerlo. No importa que fuera lo que necesitaran, él siempre encontraba la manera de hacerlo posible. Oscar era su mayor apoyo y siempre puso el bienestar de ellos sobre todas las cosas inclusive antes de sí mismo, él fue su héroe. Su espíritu desinteresado no terminaba ahí, si cualquier persona necesitaba su ayuda él hacía todo lo posible por brindarles su apoyo. Sea trabajo, alimento, refugio o únicamente alguien con quien hablar, el siempre estuvo ahí. Oscar fue un notable padre, abuelo, hermano, tío, amigo ...y la lista continúa. Sobre todo, Oscar fue una persona increíble y siempre será recordado por su brillante y radiante personalidad. El brilla su luz sobre nosotros mientras felizmente baila desde las nubes arriba. Oscar, serás verdaderamente extrañado ya que no existe persona quien te reemplace. Te amamos profundamente y continuaremos celebrando tu vida durante muchos años por venir. El funeral comenzará el sábado 12 de marzo de 2022, a las 10:15 AM desde la Funeraria G. Thomas Gentile, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, NJ. La Misa de Entierro Cristiano se celebrará a las 11:30 AM el sábado 12 de marzo de 2022, en la Iglesia St. Francis R.C., 50 Lodi Street, Hackensack. El entierro seguirá en George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. La familia recibirá a sus amigos el viernes de 5:00 a 8:00 PM para visitas en la Funeraria G. Thomas Gentile.
