Obituary of Helen Murray

Helen Murray, 103, lived most recently in Wycoff, NJ – but lived most of her life in Hackensack, NJ. Helen sadly passed away on July 26, 2022. At 103, one week shy of her 104th birthday, Helen lived a long and happy life. She drove until she was 97 years old and faithfully attended the Maywood pool until the age of 99. Helen was born on August 2nd, 1918, to Catherine and Joseph Dejewski in Jersey City, NJ. She was the last survivor of their 10 children, having 8 sisters and 1 brother. She was the beloved wife of Richard Murray, who passed away in 1968. Helen is survived by her two children: Kathleen Canestrino, and Richard Murray; three grandchildren: Amy Caramagna, Katie Gent, and Rebecca Murray; and six great grandchildren: Julia Caramagna, Lily Caramagna, Joey Caramagna, Silas Gent, Nathan Gent, and Willow Gent. Helen adored her 3 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who loved her dearly. She spent her last hours surrounded by 4 generations of family. She will be sorely missed by all. The Funeral will begin on Saturday July 30th at 10 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 400 Maywood Avenue, Maywood NJ. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
