Obituary of Patricia Tindall

PATRICIA (PAT) TRYON TINDALL, of Teaneck, New Jersey died on October 21st on her 84th birthday. A long time resident of Princeton Junction, Pat was retired from the Department of Art and Archeology, Princeton University in 1991. She was a member of Trinity Church in Princeton. An accomplished local artist, Pat maintained the Countryside Studio for her free-lance artwork in both commercial and fine arts fields. Trained in the arts since childhood, she studied at Corcoran Galleries, Abbott Art School and Pratt Institute. Pat received her Associate in Arts Degree from Mercer County Community College and her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Thomas A. Edison College of New Jersey. She studied watercolor under Vincent Ceglia, Christopher Schink, Jeanne Dobie and Nicholas Reale. Pat had several solo shows and participated in many exhibits. Her work is in numerous private collections, both home and abroad, and can be seen in local businesses throughout Mercer County. Pat’s paintings of West Windsor’s vanishing historical sites were featured in the township’s 1997 Bi-centennial calendar. Her style, using familiar places and objects as subject matter, was labeled romantic realism. Pat was appointed to the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission and belonged to Princeton Art Association, Garden State Watercolor Society, Trenton Artists’ Workshop and West Windsor Historical Society. Wife of 59 years to the late Gordon C. Tindall, Jr., she is survived by one daughter, Claudia J. Tindall of Teaneck, NJ; two sons: Gordon C. Tindall III and his wife Val of Lanesboro, MN; and Timothy W. Tindall of Jersey City, NJ; four grandchildren: Courtney Tindall of Minneapolis, MN; Ian Tindall of Decorah, IA; Christopher Mooney of Northvale, NJ; and Myla Mooney of NYC; as well as her brother Richard R. Tryon and his wife, Anne, of Frankfort, MI. Pat was sister of the late Carolyn J. Tryon of Champaign, IL. She also leaves behind close friends and the parents of her grandchildren, Michael Mooney of Northvale, NJ and Cheryl Parker Tindall of Decorah, IA. A memorial is planned for Saturday, November 27th, 1:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Dutch Neck, 154 South Mill Road, Princeton Jct., NJ. The Reverend Paul Rhebergen will conduct the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the USO (United Services Organization) at uso.org.
