Obituary of Angela C. Sproviero

Angela "Honey" Sproviero – Wall Township, NJ (August 20, 2023) On August 20, 2023, Angela "Honey" Christine Sproviero (nee Trobiano), passed away peacefully at the age of 94, surrounded by her family in Wall Township, NJ. In December 1928, she entered this world by interrupting a snowy Christmas dinner, and was born to Frank and Angelina (née Candrilli) Trobiano, at their home on Huyler Street in Hackensack. She spent her childhood surrounded by a close-knit family who valued tradition, God, and family. She often spoke of the towering influence of her great-grandparents, aunts and uncles, and countless relatives who she now joins in eternity, but who continue to speak through the stories and examples they left behind. Honey briefly worked as a telephone operator before she was married and raised a family in Paramus, where she was president of the Little League in the early 1960s. Moving to Brick in 1975, she embraced the role of Grandma. A spectacular cook, shrewd card player, and part-time cleaner of blue-claw crabs caught by her grandchildren, she rarely missed a Yankee or Giants game. When not spoiling her grandchildren, she would often host friends for Mahjong, including her best friend since they were 16, the late Betty Collura. Predeceased by her sisters Annette "Snooky" Garafano and Francine Caruso Sousa, brothers-in-law John Garafano and Donald Sousa, and sister-in-law Marilyn Trobiano, she is survived by her brother Anthony Trobiano, brother-in-law Edward Sproviero (Monique) and sister-in-law Linda Sproviero, and four adoring, heartbroken children – Andrea Diana (George), Deborah Cucchiara, Frank Sproviero (Ann-Michele), and Toni Weisleder (Wayde), along with countless nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own. She also leaves thirteen grandchildren, including Gina McKinney (Mark), Kym Riecken (Tim), Michele Guttilla (Jerry), Frank Cucchiara (Nancy), Paul Diana (Diana), Glen Sproviero (Kathleen), Evan Sproviero (Alex), Kelly Dabal (Rich), Wayde Weisleder, Terrence Weisleder, Tucker Weisleder (Amanda), Whitney Bishop (Aaron), and James Goebeler, and seventeen great-grandchildren (with number 18 on the way). Her great-grandchildren lit up her days and she glowed with pride whenever she spoke of them. To her family, Honey was a beloved matriarch. With her passing, while leaving a great void in our lives, she forges yet another link in an eternal chain that binds the generations and gives us all hope that we may all be united through the communion of time and eternity. May she rest in God's hands. The Funeral will begin from G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, on Thursday August 24, at 8:45 AM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 10:00 AM at St. Francis R.C. Church, 50 Lodi St. Hackensack, Burial will follow at Hackensack Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 23, from 4:00PM - 8:00PM for visitation at the Funeral Home.
