JERRY A. "THE CAT" TORINO, age 83, passed away on Sunday February 6, 2011. Born in South Hackensack to Anna and Joseph Torino, Jerry resided in Hackensack most of his life then moved to Oakland and Midland Park, NJ. He is survived by his wife of 64 years of timeless love Wilhelmina “Minnie” Torino. Survived by two special devoted loving daughters Cookie Torino and Sandra Van Horn and her husband Douglas of River Vale. Adored grandfather of Thomas and Lauren Van Horn. Preceded by his buddy, grandson Robert Torino (1998). Loving cousin of Johnny and Rosalie Fatteross of Merrit Island, Florida. Good family friend Carol Van Horn whom Jerry called his “sweetheart”. Jerry was an Army veteran of World War-II serving his country from 1945 – 1947. In his early years Jerry owned and operated his own sanitation company. His passion for racing homing pigeons started at the age of eleven until his mid seventies. In his youth he played softball for the Old Judge Tavern in South Hackensack. He also was a fan of the Giants and Mets. Jerry inherited his nickname “The Cat” from his smooth dancing and was known for this famous Camel Walk. Jerry will be sadly missed for the great person he was, especially for the compassion he had for his family and friends. He is also survived by two sons Jerry and Ronald Torino. Cremation was private.
