Obituary of Rosario Gonzalez Reina
Rosario Gonzalez, affectionately known as "Rosi" to her friends and family, peacefully went to the Lord at the age of 93 on May 11, 2024 at Villa Marie Claire, in Saddle River, New Jersey. She was surrounded by her family as she gave her final breath. Rosario was born to José and Isabel Gonzalez in 1930, in the small town of Yotoco, Valle del Cauca, Colombia. She was one of eight children, of whom three remain. Professionally, she was a nurse in Colombia and serviced all the towns and small villages near her residence. Caring for people in various ways was her vocation. Rosario would often be called to serve, especially at odd hours of the night. Being one of the few nurses in town, she would get on her horse and go to whoever required assistance, often without pay. It was a labor of love to serve her community. She would often say, "Money comes and goes, but friends and family are forever. I will always be there for them." Rosario came to the United States later in life, in 1992, after her second granddaughter, Yalila, was born. She cared for all her grandchildren with unwavering love. One of her accomplishments was becoming an American citizen at 80 years old! She was passionate about her faith and made sure to carry that joy for the Lord with her always. Rosario was a faithful and beloved parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church, in Hackensack New Jersey. She would join Sunday Mass with her family and meet parishioners who came to know and love her. Devoted mother of Yolanda Murillo, and son-in-law, Luis Enrique Murillo. Cherished grandmother of Angela Maria Murillo and Yalila Murillo. Adored great grandmother of Jesenia Alicia Hernandez, Fabian Francisco Perez, and Nelson Enrique Perez. She will be missed dearly but will remain close to the hearts of all who loved her. For her immense love for children, faith, and service, we ask that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her honor be mailed to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 50 Lodi Street, Hackensack, New Jersey 07601, to the attention of the Religious Education Program. The family will receive friends on Wednesday May 15, 2024 from 4pm to 8pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday May 16, at 10:00AM at St. Francis of Assisi R.C. Church, 50 Lodi St in Hackensack. Interment to follow after Mass. Thank you all for your continued love, support and prayers!
