Obituary of Maria Ferro
Maria Ferro (née Cacciato), of Hackensack, entered into eternal rest on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 12, 2024, at the age of 94. Maria emigrated to the United States from Canicattì, Sicily, in 1970. For years, Maria worked as a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Maria happily shared her life's stories, often humorous yet always filled with valuable lessons, with those eager to listen. She enjoyed nothing more than to share a cup of espresso and desserts with loved ones. Those who knew Maria could attest to her strong will despite her small stature. As the eldest daughter, Maria shouldered the responsibility in raising her younger siblings. They even affectionately referred to her as their 'mamma'. Maria's actions were instinctively selfless, always prioritizing the needs of others. She lived for her family. Maria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Diego Ferro. Devoted mother of the late Salvatore "Jack" Ferro and his wife, Rosaria, of Toms River, Joseph Ferro, and Rachel Elena Scialla and her husband, Neil, of Wayne. Cherished sister of the deceased Salvatore and his wife, Frances, Cacciato of Paramus, the former Sister Eleonora, S.C., the late Giuseppina Guagenti, the dearly departed Giovanna and her husband, Vincenzo Montanti, of Paramus, Giovanni and his wife, the late Antonia, Cacciato of Plantation, FL, Michael Cacciato and his wife, Josephine, of Hackensack, and Jack Cacciato of Hackensack. Treasured nonna of Maryellen and her husband, Stephen Mignano, Claudia, Diego "Dino" and his wife, Crystal, Marisa, Giovanni, Matthew, Shannin, and the late Diego "Joey". Bisnonna to Isabella, Salvatore, and Stephen Mignano. Maria also leaves behind Several Loving Nieces and Nephews. Maria left us an example to follow, the love she had for her family, an exemplary woman. She will forever be missed by all who were lucky enough to have known her. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:00 PM at St. Francis R.C. Church, 50 Lodi Street, Hackensack on Thursday, May 16, 2024, with entombment following at Hackensack Cemetery, Hackensack.
