Obituary of Bernard Pontius
Bernard Pontius, Jr., passed away on July 13, 2024. He was born on October 30, 1944, and was raised in Jersey City. Bernard proudly served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, demonstrating his patriotism and dedication. Upon returning to Jersey City, he earned his Bachelor of Arts under the Veterans Bill from Jersey City State College.
Bernard is survived by his devoted daughter and son-in-law, Doreen Marie Pontius and Christopher Molos, and his cherished grandchildren, Abigail Marie Molos and Zachary Molos. His wife of 30 years, Joy Pontius, passed away on August 26, 2023, and Bernard has now joined her in Heaven.
In his final months, Bernard found solace and joy in the company of his grandchildren, daughter, and son-in-law. He discovered his daughter's love for pizza, enjoyed watching movies, and took care of their beloved dog, Sammy, every morning. Weekends were spent shopping at the mall and dining with Chris and his mom, Myrna Molos. Bernard loved eating out every weekend and going to the American Legion, where he spent his time.
Bernard fought Parkinson's disease with the same resilience and pride that he carried as a Jersey City boy. His battle has come to an end, and he is now at peace, free from the suffering caused by Parkinson's disease. He has been reunited with his beloved wife in Heaven. In honor of Bernard and his family, we kindly request that you consider donating your time and resources to Parkinson's research or veterans.
