Obituary of Frank P. Alicandri, MD.
Dr. Frank Peter Alicandri, MD, passed away peacefully at home on 7 August 2024 surrounded by family. Frank spent many years as an orthopaedic surgeon in Bergen County, after graduating with a BS from Holy Cross College and an MD from Georgetown University. He valiantly served his country in New Groton Connecticut as a member of the Public Health Service, and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency (CM) at the Mayo Clinic. Frank married the love of his life, Tuggy (née Brennan) in 1958 and she predeceased him in 2011.
He will be missed by many, but especially by his children and their spouses, Hank Alicandri (Kim), Herb Alicandri (Chase), Beth Alicandri (Bloke), Peter Alicandri (Robin), Matthew Alicandri (Sarah), John Alicandri (Aileen), Frank Alicandri (Nats), Steven Alicandri, David Alicandri (Nikka), Victoria Surdykowski (Marek) and Thomas Alicandri (Kelly) and his brother, Peter. He was predeceased by his sister Angela, his son Niccolo and his daughters-in-law Diana and Sarah. His grandchildren Athena, Frank, Sammy, Frankie, Liv, Brennan, Max, August, Ben, Petey, Nic, Mikey, Julia, Victoria, Luke, Jack, Fiona, Owen, Oscar, Edie, Oliver, Ben, Cam, Liam, Joe & Riley and his great grandchildren Delilah and Niccolo will miss his love and his teasing.
Frank enjoyed travel, particularly to Italy, and good food, like a "nice piece fish". While his curiosity and interest in others led him to have enthusiastic conversations with anyone and everyone, he tended to disagree with all opinions, even those that he shared. He spent many weekends at his home on the Delaware River in Pennsylvania, where he initiated, and occasionally completed, projects large and small. Frank was a master woodworker, with many desks, tables, bookcases and beds in his portfolio. He had many and varied additional interests, including watercolor painting, silver spoons, and model railroading.
