Obituary of James E. Bradler Sr.

James "Jim" E. Bradler, Sr., my wonderful Father, peacefully went to the light after 89 1/2 years of a very good life well lived on September 5, 2024 with his loving daughter, Janet, by his side. Jim was born on January 6, 1935 in Manhattan, NY. He grew up in Astoria, Queens, NY. He was the eldest son of Margaret and Robert Bradler, Sr. Jim worked as an usher at the St. James theatre in NY as a teen. He joined the US Army and was stationed in Germany. When he got out he got a job in the mail room at Prentice Hall in Englewood Cliffs, NJ where he would meet his beloved wife of 48 years, Edna Mae Seibold. Jim worked his way up the ladder over the years at Prentice Hall, which later became Simon & Schuster. Jim retired after 46 years in 1999 as Executive Vice President of Prentice Hall Direct. He did consulting for a while after. Jim graduated from Farleigh Dickinson University in 1980 with a Masters Degree in Accounting. Jim loved his family, his cat, "Pumpkin", Frank Sinatra, Doo-Wop 50's music, cooking homemade Chinese food and traveling the world with Edna. Jim was very smart as well as funny and compassionate. He loved to read, especially history. Jim was always joking, singing and telling funny stories. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Edna, and his son, James Bradler, Jr.; his brothers Robert, Thomas and Denis and sister, Denise and his nephew, Michael Bradler, and niece, Karen LoSchiavo. Jim is survived by his daughter, Janet Setchel and his Sister, Peggy Corrigan, cousins and nieces and nephews.
