We lived next door to Chippy for almost 40 years. I remember when we first moved into our house on Herman Street, Chippy told me, " If you are cooking, and you need parsley or basil, just go into my yard and pick it:." Her kindness and generosity continued ever since. In March, we could always look forward to nice portion of her St Joseph sauce brought to our door. What a treat! She made the best Italian cookies. We called them "soles", because they looked like the soles of a shoe, but I don't know the real name of them. We've searched high and wide to buy those cookies, even making a trip to Arthur Ave. in the Bronx, but we never found cookies like the ones Chippy made and shared with us.
Her porch was welcome to everyone in the neighborhood who just wanted to sit and chat. She even watched our kids when they were children. When she moved, we really missed being able to knock on her side door, always feeling welcome.
We are blessed to have known you Chippy!

For our dear Aunt Chip whom we loved very much. So many memories that to put them all down would take all day! She always had a big hello and smile when greeted. She loved cooking for the family and sharing stories. Aunt Chip you’ve always held a special place in our hearts and we will cherish the memories we have had with you. You will be missed and especially your laugh and humor! We love you very much! God bless you and keep you close in all our hearts. Tom, Maril, Tommy, David and Jennifer and your great nieces and nephews.

We remember Aunt Chippy, whose heart was as big as her laugh—loud, joyful, and always full of life. She was more than just an aunt; she was a force of nature, someone who could turn even the hardest days into moments of warmth and love. Her kitchen was where the magic happened—whether she was making a spinach pie or creating a beautiful St. Joseph's Table. She honored St. Joseph with such care and devotion every March 19th, and those celebrations brought our family together in the most special way.
Aunt Chippy had a tough life, but she never let that harden her heart. She told the truth, no matter what, and loved us fiercely. Her love wasn't just in her words but in her actions, like sewing Olivia's dance costumes with such care or making Jake feel like the "still handsome" great nephew every time she saw him. She prayed for Jake’s soccer games and Olivia’s dance competitions as if they were the most important things in the world and funny thing, her prayers worked!!
We will miss her deeply, but we know she’s watching over us, just as she always did. Aunt Chippy, we love you so much. Thank you for your endless prayers, your contagious laughter, your truth, and your love. Please keep watching over us—we’ll carry you in our hearts forever. All our love, Maria, John, Olivia and Jake;)
