Obituary of Angelo B. Vendra

ANGELO B. VENDRA, of Wayne, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2014, at the age of 97 years. Born in Chiaramonte Gulfi, Italy, he came to this country in 1946 settling in Hackensack. He lived in South Hackensack for many years and had lived in Wayne for ten years. Prior to retiring, he owned Italian Products of North Bergen. Previously, he was the proprietor of Angelo’s Market in Hackensack. Angelo proudly received coveted recognition from the President of Italy as Cavaliere of the Legion of Merit. He was a member of the Hackensack Chapter of Unico International and the Santa Croce Camerina Society of Paterson. He was a parishioner of St. Francis R. C. Church of Hackensack. Beloved husband of the late Teresa (nee Arangio) who died in 2010. Devoted father of RoseMarie Vendra of Hackensack and Loretta D’Ambrosio and her husband Alfred of South Hackensack. Loving grandfather of Rene Brady, Nadine D’Ambrosio, Danielle Bongiovani and her husband Peter, and the late Guy Brady who died in 2006. Cherished great grandfather of Peter, Marissa, and Marco Bongiovani. Dearest brother of Nellina Gafa of Ragusa, Italy and the late Lucietta Vendra. Adored uncle of many loving nieces and nephews. The funeral on Friday, June 6th, at 9:45 AM, from the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. Francis R. C. Church, 50 Lodi Street, Hackensack with entombment following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 – 9 PM
