Obituary of John J. Rocciola

JOHN J. ROCCIOLA, of Hackensack, former owner of the J. Rocciola Funeral Home in Hackensack, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 1, 2012, at the age of 82 years. John was born in Lodi on September 29, 1929 to the late Ida (nee Voitle) and John J. Rocciola. He attended Lodi Public Schools and then Cheshire Academy in Cheshire CT. graduating in 1947 as a member of the "Foote Club" (Soccer). After graduating mortuary school he took over his father's funeral business, the J. Rocciola Funeral Home on Main Street in Lodi. After urban renewal in Lodi, the funeral home moved to Essex Street in Hackensack with his cousin and partner the late Judd Rocciola until his retirement. John was a parishioner of St. Francis R. C. Church of Hackensack and a member of the Knights of Columbus Trinity Council # 747 of Hackensack. Beloved husband for 30 years of Rosemarie (nee Becker). Devoted father of Peggy Lynn Richter, Judith Ann Ruja, Kellie Hamberger and Michael Trimble. Loving grandfather of Heather Richter, Dawn Bautista, Douglas Schroer, Madeline, Thomas and Clayton Hamberger, Stephen, Caitlyn and Michael Trimble. Cherished great grandfather of Madison and Samantha Bautista. Dearest brother of Cristine Baeli. The Rocciola Family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Anthony Seidita and family for their kindness, compassion and help through these past years. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 5th, at St. Francis R. C. Church, 50 Lodi Street, Hackensack at 11:00 AM with burial following at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Lodi. Visiting will be on Monday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM.
