Obituary of Henry G.Cahoon

HENRY "HANK" G. CAHOON, of Hackensack, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at Hackensack University Medical Center, at the age of 84 years. He was born in New Fane, Vermont and lived in Hackensack for 60 years. Prior to retiring, he owned Cahoon Painting and Wallpapering Co. of Hackensack. Previously he was a Hackensack firefighter for 25 years and served as an EMT for the fire department. He was a member of I.A.F.F. Local 21 and the Hackensack Firemen's Exempt Association. He proudly served his country during the Korean War and was honorably discharged from the United States Navy. He was a member of the Second Reformed Church of Hackensack and the Hawthorne Fortitude Lodge # 200 F & AM of Ramsey. Hank loved bowling and belonged to several bowling leagues. Beloved husband for 58 years of Irma A. (nee Alexander). Devoted father of Keith Cahoon and wife Laurie of Plainwell, MI, Lance Cahoon and wife Doris of Haskell, Alison Ohlendorf of Saddle Brook, and Brent Cahoon and wife Mary of Hackensack. Cherished grandfather of Michael, Matthew, David, Robert, Ashley and Edward. Dearest brother of the late Lewis Cahoon. The funeral on Saturday, December 20th, at 11:00 AM, from the funeral home. The funeral service at the Second Reformed Church, 436 Union Street, Hackensack at 12:30 PM with burial following at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. The Masonic Lodge will hold a service on Friday evening at 8:00 PM.
