Obituary of Peter J. Finley

PETER J. FINLEY, of Hackensack, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 1, 2011, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 73 years. Born in New York City, he lived in New York and has lived in Hackensack for 42 years. Prior to retiring, he was a custodian for the Teaneck Board of Education for 17 years. Previously, he was a machinist for Potdevin Machine Company of Teterboro where he worked for 27 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus E. G. Alberque Council # 2229 of Ridgefield Park and was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church of Maywood. Beloved husband for 49 years of Ellen E. (nee O'Brien) Finley. Devoted father of Peter Finley and his wife Gaye-Lyn of West Milford, Dr. Timothy Finley of Rochelle Park, Patrick Finley and his wife Amy of Hackensack, Christopher Finley Esq. and his wife Joan of Boynton Beach, Florida, and Steven Finley and his wife Joann of New Milford. Cherished grandfather of Jamie Lynn, Sean, Kyle, Brielle, Chelsea, Liam, Sydney, Christopher, Lauren, Michael and Leah. Devoted son of the late Patrick and Margaret (nee Farley). Dearest brother of the late Catherine Finley, James Finley, and Ann Finley. The funeral on Thursday, October 6, at 8:15 AM from the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union St., Hackensack. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 400 Maywood Avenue, Maywood with burial following at St. Raymond's Cemetery, Bronx, NY. Visiting will be on Tuesday evening from 7 - 9 PM and Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM.
