Obituary of Martin Gormley

MARTIN GORMLEY, of Chestnut Ridge, NY formerly of Hackensack, a native of Dunmore Co Galway, Ireland, passed away on Tuesday October 14, at the age of 79. Prior to retiring he owned and operated Gormley Tax Service on Katonah Avenue in Woodlawn-Bronx, NY and Teaneck, NJ. He was a member of the Bergen Irish, the Galway Men’s Association, the New York Gaelic Minor Board, St. Joseph Gaelic Football and the Knights of Columbus. Beloved husband of Mary “Maureen” (nee Garvey) for 53 years. Loving father of Sean and Donna Gormley of Wyckoff, Kevin and Maureen of Breezy Point, NY, Brian and Maryellen of Garden City, NY and Deirdre Gormley and Peter Kingston of Dublin Ireland. Cherished grandfather of Matthew, Megan, Ryan, Mairead, Rhiannon, Niamh, Caoimhe, Ruairi, Christopher, Timothy, Caitlin and Liam. Dearest brother of Sister Joan Gormley G.S., John Gormley, Patrick Gormley, Myra Gormley, Thomas Gormley, Eileen Nally and the late Michael Gormley. Martin is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral on Saturday, October 18, at 9:45 AM from the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity R.C. Church, 34 Maple Ave. Hackensack, at 11:00 AM. Internment to follow in Killarney, Ireland. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7 – 9 PM and Friday 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM for visitation.
