Obituary of C. Eugene Godlesky

Casimir Eugene "Gene", age 86, of South Hackensack, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2016. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Marie. Loving father of daughter Bonnie Dallara and her husband Gene of Hasbrouck Heights and daughter Lynn Sodora of Dingmans Ferry, PA. Cherished grandfather of Stephanie Dallara, Danielle Dallara and Samantha Sodora. Also survived by his dear brother, Stanley Godlesky and his wife, Mildred and nieces, Anastasia Zinkerman and Kathy Godlesky. He was born in Paterson, NJ and spent much of his youth in Dunellen, later graduating from Dunellen High School. He was a graduate of Rutgers School of Law and was admitted to the Bar in Washington D.C. in 1952. He served as a Sergeant in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 and was admitted to the NJ Bar in 1955. He served as Prosecutor for Middlesex Borough from 1963-1966 and for South Hackensack from 1971-1974. He also served as Municipal Court Judge for South Hackensack in 1974-1979 and 1995-1998 and Acting Judge for the city of Hackensack, 1975-1979. He practiced law for over 50 years in Hackensack and was highly respected among his fellow colleagues, known for his honesty, fairness, and sound legal advice. He was a beloved and respected member of his community and church, as well as a proud Honorary Member of the South Hackensack V.F.W. The Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Hackensack, on Wednesday, August 3 at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 2, from 2-4 and 6-9.
