Obituary of Kathryn A Padovano
Kathryn A. Sellarole Padovano, of Waldwick, formerly of Hackensack, passed away peacefully on Tuesday,December 6, 2016, surrounded by her loving and devoted family, at the age of 93 years. She was born on Mother's Day, May 8, 1923in Hackensack to Georgeand Adeline (nee DiCrosta) Sellarole. "Kay" was a graduate of Hackensack High School Class of 1941.and married her Hackensack High School sweetheart, Carl E. Padovano. They were married for 47 years until her husband's death in 1991. She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity R C. Church of Hackensack, the Hackensack University Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary and a volunteer at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. Kathryn was truly part of the "Greatest Generation" as she devoted her life to her family sharing her talents of fashion with a flare, stupendous cooking for her large family, and wonderful sense of comfort and beauty. She embraced the future with both courage and wonder but held fast to the traditions and power of faith and family. Nothing else could compare to her dedication, loyalty, and love for her husband and five children. She is survived by daughters: Virginia Millard and her husband John of Montvale, Patricia Padovano of Ridgewood, Kathryn Padovano and her husband Ed Hughes of Hopkinton, MA, and Nina Padovano and her husband Dan Morski of Encino, CA. She was predeceased by her son Carl E. Padovano who died in 2014 who leaves behind his wife Linda (nee Oswald) of Mahwah. Kathryn is also survived by her ten grandchildren who will dearly miss their grandmother: John and his wife Lin, Jennifer, Joseph, Bob, Caren and husband Mark, Carrie and husband Frank, Jamie and husband Mark, Kaylin and husband Kenny, Jaclyn, Carl and wife Samantha and her special friend "Pinky". Kathryn had a special relationship with her thirteen great grandchildren as well. She took delight in their lives and every achievement no matter how great or small: Sam, Lucy, Ella, Rosa, Maurice, Jahvon, Jayden, Julien, Emma, Natalie, Bryce, Brooke and Brielle. Kathryn is also survived by her devoted brother Ted Sellarole and his wife Nancy of Delaware, her sister, Peggy Liosi also of Delaware and her late husband George, and the late George "Tuggy" Sellarole and his wife Peggy, and Robert "Spike" Sellarole and his wife Evelyn. She is also loved and cherished by her many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her lifelong high school friends: the Plumps and Fultons and many dear friends of Hackensack. The funeral on Saturday, December 10th, at 8:30 AM, from the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:45 AM at Holy Trinity R. C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack with burial following at St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2 – 4 and 7 - 9 PM. The family prefers that you honor her memory with a memorial donation to the Carl E. Padovano Scholarship Fund, Inc. which benefits student graduating from Hackensack High School.
